Is there really a seismic shift in values happening?

You don’t have to be in a conversation long with someone today until you hear someone say how “crazy” the world is getting.  This has to do with the perceived loss of traditional values across multiple areas of society.  The perception is that far too many people ‘out there’ have abandoned traditional values and ethics and even common sense (such as not enforcing laws on things like the border or even crimes in our cities).  It’s like our own culture has turned against us.  Yet when you drill down a bit, you seem to find (or at least I do) that almost everyone feels this way.  But, they say, “everyone else is getting crazy.”

Where does this disconnect from perception and personal reality come from?  Turns out, most people, whether they live in a blue or a red state, are not crazy, and are not pushing for this radical agenda being imposed on us in our schools, corporations, and by Hollywood.  Turns out that, outside of some misguided college students and their professors, the only people pushing for this radical upending of our society away from its Judeo-Christian roots are a very small group of people tucked away in insulated bubbles of influence, at a safe distance from the masses of people they are attempting to tell how to think and live.  They are corporate CEOs, academia, scientists (who are rapidly becoming pseudoscientists, more on that later), some government leaders, school administrators, and of course, media.  No matter how much angst or outrage the people they claim to lead or influence experience, they are not listening to them.  They are listening to their peers.  That’s why they are sometimes called ‘the elite’ because they present themselves as intellectually and morally superior to ‘common’ people, who need to be ‘enlightened.’  That’s what happens in a bubble, or a clique.

The real fault lines today are not conservative versus liberal.  They are not even secular versus religious.  They are one religion versus another.

And where does this sense of moral superiority come from?  Radical gender ideas are being forced on students and parents, radical race policies on employees, radical ideas on global warming are being implemented as economic policy because these people have to prove that they are the ones who ‘care’ – about race, gender, and the environment.  And who are they trying to prove it to?  Not the people they claim to lead or influence.  They live for the affirmation of their peers. And in this elite bubble, there has been a seismic shift away from Judeo-Christian values and morality.  It started in the universities over 40 years ago, and has filtered out to other areas of influence.  And in this clique, Christian morality and thought is absent.  Cliques are about what’s fashionable, and Christianity is not fashionable in elite society.  Something had to take its place.  Since moral validation no longer comes from Christian morality for these people, a substitute morality had to be inserted.  I believe that substitute morality is pagan morality.  It is why I wrote Modern Paganism, which goes into much more detail than is allowed here.  The perversions of ancient paganism are being set forth today as ‘moral’ and ‘caring.’  It is called progress, but it is really regress, and has the potential to take us backward into the darkness of pre Christian paganism.  These ‘influencers’ who seek to coerce us into this darkness turn a deaf ear to the protests of the people they claim to care about because of the desperate need to fill the moral and spiritual vacuum in their own soul.  They need to posture to their peers – in academia, science, government, and journalism.  They are not in fact more moral than the rest of the population; they are much less moral.

Paganism and Christianity are now the two major competing religious and moral systems today in the United States. This is becoming more and more apparent to a growing number of observers.

One religion and morality is based on transcendent authority, the other on transitory moral fads.  Most people still embrace to a large part the traditional Judeo-Christian view of things – in terms of ethics, values, and even beliefs.  They’re not really buying what’s being sold to them.  They are not ‘crazy.’  But many of our leaders are.  And just as it would be wrong, and all of us would resist attempts to coerce us to Catholic or Jewish or Baptists beliefs, so we must resist these coercive conversion attempts to a degenerate pagan moral and religious system.  It is the new form of religious discrimination or even persecution and must be stopped.  It will only be stopped when enough of us push back against employers, school administrators, and even government leaders who try to force us to accept or practice things hostile to the Christian faith.  Pagan tyranny was overcome in the first four centuries of the birth of the Christian faith.  Religiously supported government tyranny (via the Anglican church) was overcome in the founding stages of the United States.  It was overcome because a growing number of people embraced a higher moral authority based on Judeo-Christian values.  The next time a morally bankrupt employer, school administrator, or government official tries to make you violate your moral or religious beliefs, call it what it is – religious discrimination, as two Kroger employees did who won lawsuits for being fired for refusing to wear gay pride patches. This had nothing to do with tolerance toward gay people, it had everything to with the intolerance of forcing others to violate their religiously based convictions and beliefs.  If a school, employer, or government official cannot compel someone to wear a cross, neither do they have a right to require people to subscribe to what is essentially pagan, or non-Christian beliefs or practices.  It is fine to have different beliefs about the prevalence of racism, gender issues, and global warming.  Have debates.  Convince instead of coercing.  I believe the time tested Judeo-Christian value system will win every time in the environment of discussion and debate.  Maybe that’s what they’re afraid of.
