The public has aggressively pushed back against censorship and tyranny. But where did it come from?
This week we had meals with two different couples from our church, both ex-military. Both had left the military because of the Covid mandate. One even had a medical exemption (he had a demonstrated reaction to an earlier flu vaccine), but the real reason for both of them not taking the vaccine was that they knew, like many in the medical community, that there was no way an experimental vaccine, which had only been tested a year, should be unleashed upon the public in any form, much less with the threat of loss of career or even job. Despite efforts to suppress it, most people on the ground knew of egregious side effects, including paralysis, heart conditions, blood clots leading to stroke or amputation, and even deaths. And the worst of it was, despite these risks, it turns out the vaccine was virtually ineffective, even after two, three, or even four booster shots. But by then, the damage was done. Our military and other first responder organizations were dangerously depleted. This surreal horror show of both coercion and censorship reads more like a dystopian futuristic movie than the America we’ve grown up in. In other countries, like Australia, it was even worse, with dissidents being locked up in the equivalence of a concentration camp for not taking the dangerous vaccines. All this in countries who consider themselves to be civilized nations. They are anything but civilized.
Part of the collateral damage from the government’s attempt to coerce people into putting something potentially dangerous in their bodies is the public’s trust in physicians and hospitals has plummeted since then. This is a first in American history, as doctors used to be deemed one of the most trustworthy of the professions. This, alongside with the American Medical Association’s endorsement of teen gender transition treatments, will be seen as a new low in medical scandals as the public has reacted to and rejected this dark time of censorship and tyranny by our officials and leaders.
As I’ve written in my book, those who oppress, censor, and engage in other forms of tyranny do so because they know they can’t ‘sell’ their ideas, so they must coerce instead of convince. I also point out in the book that the root system of these destructive ideas is moral, and ultimately spiritual. It is the godless who must invent perverse moralities to replace our time honored Christian heritage. That is the core definition of paganism – defining morality by personal desires, instincts, indulgences and the popular culture, rather than the religious text of the Bible, from which the United States has derived most of its public morality and laws since its inception. We have come to a place where it is clear that the war against Christianity has resulted, not in the secular paradise the godless promised, but pagan tyranny, where parents are threatened for wanting to determine their own child’s future, and careers are ruined for daring to question authorities and other ‘experts’ who are clearly mandating dangerous practices.
We need leaders who, if not outright Christians themselves, are champions for the values and culture given to us by our Christian heritage. For those who fear a ‘Christian’ tyranny, I agree with author Doug Wilson, who argues that a pagan will always fare better under a Christian, than a Christian under a pagan. If there is no God, no ‘higher authority’, as our founders constantly acknowledged, then authorities find it very easy to play god. And that’s what has been happening. If mandating a dangerous vaccine, and demanding people change the rules on gender is not playing god, then nothing is. These leaders who have been intoxicated by their own power, with no authority higher than themselves to check them, have been forcefully rejected by the public at large, and rightly so.
Our country was not founded on pagan values, but on Christian values, namely economic and religious freedom. No pagan has a right to force their destructive ideas on others. By the way, those two ideas go together, as our founders knew. Without religious freedom, you will lose economic freedom, through strangling regulation, taxation, censorship, and other socialist like practices. The tide has turned, expressed in the recent election of Republicans to power, because enough people refused to bow to tyranny. The Christians resisted because of their Christian convictions. Others who were perhaps not Christians themselves, resisted on the basis of convictions derived from Christianity (like equality and human rights), whether or not they knew the source of those convictions. Once again we have discovered that we’re not going to make it as a society if we stray too far from our Christian roots. This is basically what Jordan Peterson is saying. The illusion of a purely secular society has come to an end. It’s either paganism or Christianity.
