Why the ‘call for ‘civil dialogue’ is being ignored
Much of the conversation around Charlie Kirk and his tragic death, which has captured the attention of the world, centers around ‘how to resolve our differences’. The problem has been, and still is, is that those who oppose the conservative and/or Christian message (they’re very close nowadays), have never been willing to engage in ‘civil debate’, as I explain in my book Modern Paganism. A bad idea can survive in a bubble (like academia) but cannot survive when under scrutiny in the real world. It cannot be defended in a rational debate. The Bible even makes reference to this (Proverbs 18:17). I also explain in my book that those who oppose the current value system of Judeo-Christian values have adopted a substitute religion (“woke”) that is best described as modern paganism. Modern paganism, like ancient paganism, requires that every self-indulgent lifestyle be validated, regardless of the consequences. It’s very hard to defend these ideas in open debate or discussion. That’s why conservative speakers are shouted down on college campuses, while liberal speakers are not. The modern pagan activist must censor, chant, shout down, riot, march, and even resort to violence. Bad ideas cannot be defended; they can only be imposed. That’s why Charlie Kirk was killed.
Charlie’s death has inspired large numbers of people to exhibit courage against this pagan suppression, and to speak up for both their values and their faith. As America has recently rejected the pseudo religion of “woke”, the pagans have become more desperate, evidenced by the increasing violence we’ve seen. Charlie didn’t just appear on conservative news outlets and podcasts, he went into the heart of the pagan temples, the modern university system, and debated students where they were.
The pagans who oppose our ideas aren’t going to debate or dialogue, because they can’t. Their ideas, and the moral decay that supports them, are repulsive and can’t stand the light of a rational conversation. They are reduced to name calling and the violence that follows. We are wasting our time when we ask for ‘dialogue’ from our opponents. The seekers will dialogue. Charlie understood that and sought them out. The activists will not dialogue. They know their motives are hideous and they will run from exposure. In his epistle to the Romans, Paul mentioned that wicked people ‘suppress the truth’ (Romans 1:18). We need to quit defending ourselves from their ridiculous name calling. It’s a waste of time. It’s all they have and they’re not going to quit. Their ideas need to be exposed for what they are: anti-Christian. We don’t need to be confused about this. They want paganism. We want the Christian faith and the values that come from it. They’re not willing to debate because they know they would lose. We defend our ideas because they come from our time honored Christian faith and heritage. We defend our ideas not in spite of the fact they come from Christianity, but because of it. We have Divine authority on our side and we should not be ashamed of that. People are looking for guidance and our faith has always been that guiding light for how to live and what to believe.
Charlie Kirk understood better than most the relationship between modern conservatism and Christianity. That’s why he preached both. That’s why many who have migrated to conservative values have also migrated to the Christian faith, in increasing numbers. There is a true spiritual awakening happening, especially among young people. Charlie Kirk has had a large role in this. He refused to submit to intimidation because of persecution. The early church did the same and defeated ancient paganism. We can defeat modern paganism the same way.
