The latest horrific attach on Jews, killing 15 people at a Hannukah event last Sunday at Bondi Beach in Australia brought into sharp relief two things:

“Since 9/11, there have been over 48,000 Islamic terror acts in nearly 70 countries.” – Dr. Gad Saad, Newsmax interview, 12/15/25

48,000!  So much for a peaceful religion.  As Dr. Saad points out in the interview, the fact that there are nice or peaceful Muslims (one of them intervened to stop the gunman) does not override the violent history of this religion as a whole.  Islam is historically committed to the extermination of Jews.  In Australia, these attacks were  enabled, many believe, by enabling a dangerous rise of antisemitism, as chronicled by Ayaan Hirsi Ali in The Free Press.  This is the same passivity being exhibited by many of Europe’s leaders, as Muslim immigrants overwhelm these countries.  The fallout has been horrific, with increased attacks on Jews, women, and sex trafficking of thousands of young British girls.

Why have many so leaders in the West been passive in the face of the threat of Islam, a religion which promotes jihad, or ‘holy war’?  The answer can be found in the abandonment of many of our leaders and academics of our Christian heritage, which provided the moral code of the West for centuries.  They see themselves as ‘enlightened’ beyond the Christian faith.  The future, they say is ‘reason’ based on a secular society.  As a result, they replace the Christian faith with a bogus form of tolerance, which can never truly condemn or even define evil.  Tolerance becomes the new religion, ignoring every other definition of evil.  Hostility toward Christianity, which these leaders have possessed, results in tolerance toward militant Islam for fear of being called racist.  These leaders see themselves as atheist or secular, ‘above’ religion, all the while embracing a made up religion of tolerance.  Secularism, however, does not produce moral clarity nor courage in the face of evil.

As I wrote in Modern Paganism – we are moral beings and have to have a moral code.  If we reject our heritage of Christianity, we will come up with flimsy views of tolerance to replace it.  There really is no middle ground.  The future is not secular (without religion).  We have proven that is impossible.  The question is which religion will we embrace?  If we think we can choose ‘none’ we will eventually end up with something really bogus, as the Australian leaders did, and watch helplessly as the lives of our family, friends, and communities are destroyed.
