A spiritual analysis of the 2024 election

It’s been longer than normal since my last newsletter (I apologize) but I wanted to let the dust settle as everyone’s inbox has been overwhelmed by fever pitch political fundraising.

A week ago, Donald Trump and the Republican party in general experienced a landslide victory.  Trump got 42 more electoral votes than he needed, the Senate got 3 more seats than needed, and the House looks to keep or expand its narrow margin, leaving Trump and the Republicans free to enact their agenda without resistance.  

The top issues for voters was the economy and illegal immigration.  Inflation is up a whopping 20+% since Biden took office, and millions of illegal immigrants have been let in.  Also, on the ballot was wokeism – this idea we need to obsess about race and gender, including gender identity, to be considered a virtuous people.  Wokeism is the replacement religion of the left as they have abandoned Christianity.  Wokeism is a false substitute spiritual and moral ‘awakening’ (thus the term ‘woke’) by godless people who need to validate themselves morally by ‘standing up for marginalized people.’  Wokeism says America as a whole is sinful and white people are to blame.  It has been the favorite strategy of the Democratic party, which positions itself as the party of the oppressed marginalized groups, which basically includes everyone who is not a white straight male.  So, they are shocked that Trump won so decisively, picking up big gains with minority voters.  It appears the Hispanic community in particular was not falling for the illegal immigration ploy, which was obviously the reason the Democrats did it.  Hispanics actually seem to care about law and order.  And who knew that Americans didn’t want men in girls bathrooms and in women’s sports?  Only guilty mostly white liberals (media, university professors and their students, Democratic politicians, cowardly CEOs, etc.) think this is a good idea. 

Most of the people I know in the evangelical Christian community are gratified by a Trump victory.   This is not because they necessarily think he is a Christian, with his use of curse words in speeches, name calling of opponents, and general demeanor.  It is not his rhetoric, but his policies that endears him to the Christian community.   And this should be the criteria for support for a candidate or a party.  Rhetoric is cheap, actions are not.  Trump has been a friend of the church and defender of religious liberties.  In addition, the defense of free market principles, support for law and order, and mostly, the rejection of the pagan religion of wokeism are positions much more aligned with Biblical teaching than socialism, lawlessness and the celebration of deviant sexual lifestyles. 

Another issue that drove many to the right is censorship by the left.  Tulsi Gabbard and Elon Musk come to mind, as well as RFK Jr., all former Democrats.  Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. actually ran for president as Democrats.  This is a huge shift by very public figures, who risked a lot to do so.  As I outline in my book, people who censor are revealing that they know their ideas cannot stand scrutiny or survive debate.  This is why Christians are censored in Muslim countries and by pagans here in our educational system.

This break from wokeism by America is a recent trend that has been gaining momentum and received an exclamation point in this last election.  This is a tribute to our Christian heritage and a welcome reversal of recent trends both here and Europe.  It is a rebuke to the indoctrination by our university system whose graduates have populated positions of influence in government, media, and corporations.  The people have pushed back.  Social media has played a huge role in breaking the corporate legacy media monopoly and giving people a voice.  The purchase by Elon Musk of Twitter broke the social media monopoly of Facebook and YouTube that was rapidly going woke and engaging in censorship, as was the Twitter Musk bought.  This anti woke trend is gaining momentum so rapidly that ‘woke’ has become a dirty word the same way that anti fracking became in this election.  How quickly things can change, this time for the better.  This is why we keep telling people to push back against the tyranny of the pagans.  We’re only victims if we allow ourselves to be victims.
